Chilled to the Bone

cold wet boat ride great first mate

We picked the coldest, windiest, wettest day of the year to pull the boat out of the water. After Kara arrived at 8 AM to babysit the kids, Kristine and I set out to take Emotional Rescue for her last cruise of the year, which included navigating the Ballard locks and taking the boat all the way to Seattle Boat Co. on Lake Union.  Once we arrived to drop off the boat, the sky opened up, dumping buckets of freezing cold water on us as we took down the canvas top and put on ER’s winter coat. Thank God we were just a few blocks from the Whalemaker, where we enjoyed some well-deserved fried oysters and our drinks of choice. Sleep tight, Emotional Rescue. See you in May.
