“Mom, Dad – This is the most amazing garden in the universe. There is no way aliens could make a garden this beautiful.” – Henry Fry as he walked through The Butchart Gardens on Sunday, April 28, 2013.
Upon arriving in Victoria, we headed straight to the Empress Hotel for Afternoon Tea. The kids surprisingly loved the experience. Which may or may not have been related to the fact that their Prince and Princess Tea included several treats. It was one of the most refined lunches ever for the Fry Family. Until Henry burped loud enough for all of our tea sipping neighbors to hear. Twice.
The Fry Family Quartet is headed to Victoria, B.C. this weekend for a short excursion we’ve never done before. We just boarded the Victoria Clipper, which will wisk is up through the Puget Sound. Canada is 90 minutes away.
I don’t get enough chances to play with the kids during the week, so weekend play tends to make up for lost time. And it’s slightly more dangerous.
We had a wonderful, rejuvenating weekend on Lopez. Everybody got naps, and I got in a nice bike ride around the South end of the island. The corner grocery down the road has new owners, who opened a little restaurant – where we had lunch today. Now they just need their liquor license, and things will be complete. No one wanted to leave when it was time to catch the ferry home. That’s the sign of a good weekend. And the first step in missing a ferry.
