Biking Buddies

When I was seven, my brother would take me on bike rides all over town. It was one of my favorite things to do, and it made me a lifetime lover of bike rides – especially when I have a companion. Today, I rented Henry a bike so he and I could ride up the west side of Manhattan along the Hudson River bike path. It was not only Henry’s first bike ride in New York; it was his first experience with hand brakes, which he figured out quickly. After a few miles up the trail, Henry’s confidence was high, so I suggested we ride to and around Central Park. So that’s what we did. Round trip we probably did 10 miles, which is by far the longest bike ride Henry has ever taken. He was so proud of this milestone, and so was I. I now have a biking buddy in New York. Maybe one of these days we’ll do the NYC Century Bike Tour together.
