Cruisin’

This week began the Fry Family Quartet’s first cruise. We set sail on the ms Amsterdam on Sunday from Seattle to start a family reunion with the Spokane Frys. How to describe the experience? 20% National Geographic, 20% Great Wolf Lodge, 20% Vegas, 20% National Lampoon’s Vacation, 20% Home for the Holidays. 100% Fry.

Henry and Ruby have had the time of their lives. Multiple times every day we hear them say, “This is the best. Day. EVER.” And I don’t think that’s the Dramamine talking. They seriously love it. Waffles for breakfast; chocolate cake for dinner; wave pool (rough seas induced); lots of attention from grandparents, aunts and uncles; and countless things they have never seen before (glaciers, icebergs and SO many whales.)

Monday night was formal night in the dining room, so Henry and Ruby got to wear their new outfits. Some say you act like you dress, which might explain their best dinner behavior to-date.  We followed that with a rare family photo.

Tuesday afternoon’s activity included whale and glacier watching on Carl’s and Kaye’s balcony as we wound our way through Tracy Arm. Wow, what an experience. This continued into dinner, when we decided we’ve never had such a beautiful view during a meal. Today we arrive in Juneau, our first port since leaving Seattle.
