Album Sorting Logic

With all of our albums now in one location, we decided to finally organize our collection. This is a perfect morning coffee activity. It does present some important questions, however. Categorize strictly alphabetically or by genre? We decided to go alphabetically, Christmas music being the one exception.

Other questions that arise:

Does The J. Giles Band get filed under J or G? J. If it was a solo J. Giles album, it’d go under G.

Where do soundtracks go? V, for Various Artists.

John Cougar Mellencamp? M. What if we had one of his albums he did as just John Cougar? Irrelevant. We’d never buy those albums.

Lady Gaga? L. Nobody calls her Miss Gaga.

I file Soundtracks under Soundtracks and albums with various artists under Collections. Collections can be subdived by decade. Christmas music I hide with the ornaments.
